Hello love,
It's been a few weeks since I last wrote to you, and I wish I could say it's because I took time off to enjoy the summer breeze, but no.
I've been hard at work behind-the-scenes, working on several brand strategy, web design & copy projects all while managing 4 highly sensitive nervous systems in my family (my own included), taking bold unprecedented steps in my business that I still can't wrap my head around, and planning for a completely restructured homeschooling program and routine.
Overwhelmed is an understatement.
But here's something that's truly helping me, and I think will help you too: Dump on paper everything you've been carrying on your shoulders.
Not in a dear journal kind of way, but in a structured grid.
I divided my page into several categories, and wrote bullet points of all the things I need to do (or believe I need to do) and all the things I worry about.
There's something quite magical about seeing things neatly on paper: it makes you feel things neatly in your brain too.
And I realised that of course I've been carrying much more than I'm capable of, with almost impossible deadlines, the stubborn belief that I can make it on my own if I power through and exert more control on things which I have in fact very little control over.
When the key is in fact
- to let go of worry (it never helped anyone)
- to rearrange deadlines so they're actually realistic and respectful of my capacity (regardless of who might be disappointed, but in my experience, mostly nobody) and
- to discern what's mine to carry alone and what can be shared or entirely delegated.
So I did it. Told a couple of clients honestly where I'm at. Asked AI to take some logistics off my plate.
And here's what I've noticed:
None of it is as dramatic as we build it up to be. Nobody minds. The world keeps turning.
But maybe it starts with acknowledging that we're only human after all.
Power and light,
Jessica
P.S: In my next email, I'll tell you more about those bold unprecedented steps in my business. Stay tuned!
