Some weeks, I feel like I have nothing new to say.
Nothing wise or exciting. Nothing you haven't heard before.
And it almost stops me from writing or saying anything at all.
What would be the point of repeating what I've already said, or what has been said by others?
Perhaps you too have felt this pressure to be original every time you speak to your audience?
Perhaps you've judged yourself for not being innovative enough, for not being the thought leader you think you should be?
And so you block yourself. You may have an idea to share but instead of sharing it you think...
"It's nothing new under the sun".
"Who do I think I am for talking about this topic".
" It's not like I'm an expert."
Same mountain. Same sun. Still, every day, someone sees her beauty as if for the first time.
The truth is, almost everything has already been said in every field.
Yet, there are still some researchers, writers, public speakers we look up to.
We see them as the experts, the ones that brought something new to the table, and we completely forget that even what they said is just a reframe.
A repetition in a different shape.
An interpretation of several pre-existing theories put together and seen through the lens of their very own perception, shaped by their completely unique experience of being alive in our world.
But you find it amazing, inspiring, sometimes even ground-breaking.
You don't care if it's been said before.
You care that it's being said now.
By someone you resonate with and trust.
At a moment when you’re finally ready to hear it.
In a way that challenges you without overwhelming you.
You're the only expert of you
Nobody can ever really know what it's like to be you. To walk in your skin, to feel your feelings and to see the world the way you do.
When your lived experience brings you insights, understanding, or wisdom, it becomes your job to share it with others.
Because we’re all longing to be understood and gently encouraged toward a better way to live.
That's why what you have to say matters.
So say it.
Say it again.
Say it in your way.
Someone out there needs to hear it from you.
Power and light,
Jessica
P.S. I’m drafting my next blog post and would love your input!
