the permission you've been waiting for

Hello love,

What would make you perfectly content now?

That's the question my sister-in-law, who's visiting us with her kids, asked me last night.

Without hesitation, I answered: Nothing. I already am.

It struck me afterward how different my answer would have been 5 years ago.

Back then, I would have had a list: more clients, a bigger audience, a sleeker website, recognition from industry leaders...

There was always something external that I needed to happen first.

And sure, my circumstances have changed drastically over the years, but the most important shift was much more internal.

It was about not waiting for the world to give me permission anymore.

A daily practice of giving these permissions to myself:

  • Permission to quit social media.
  • Permission to not have a polished website right away.
  • Permission to focus only on blog and email marketing.
  • Permission to be a copywriter, strategist, and a coach when the experts shout "niche down" .
  • Permission to not launch anymore.
  • Permission to sell services and even hourly work when we're told never sell your time.
  • Permission to not follow traditional marketing strategies that tell you to stir up pain and offer the solution.
  • Permission to work on my own hours, have boundaries, not be available to everyone all the time.

Each permission felt vulnerable because it went against what I was supposed to do.

When we make decisions that others don't understand, something inside us perceives risk.

But the truth is: there is risk in every decision you make.

You won't always get it right. Nobody always gets it right. Some decisions will be mistakes.

But these mistakes are yours to make, and the lessons, yours to learn.

Giving yourself permission comes from valuing your own truth

When you take the time to understand what you really want and value, then you start making decisions not based on what's trendy or what's going to make more money, but based on self-knowledge.

That's how you become anchored in your truth.

Other people's opinions then remain exactly that : their opinions.

You can take them with a grain of salt because you know you're operating from authenticity, not fear or external pressure.

And you give yourself the permission you've been waiting for.

The permission to trust yourself. To make choices that feel right in your body, even when they don't make sense to others. To prioritize your well-being over external validation. To build a business and life that honors who you actually are, not who you think you should be.

And so I'm asking you today, my dear one:

What would you do differently in your business - or your life - if you didn't need anyone else's approval?

Hit reply and let me know, I love to read from you.

Power and light,

Jessica
